Yesterday, just 4 days after the anti-yelp documentary "Billion Dollar Bully" launched its funding campaign on Kickstarter, Yelp has already released a statement about the makers of the film, and their VP of corporate communications appeared in a joint interview with the producer on CNBC.
After news of the documentary seemingly caused a dip in Yelp's stock price, down nearly 5% to $44.58 per share, Yelp released this statement:
The director has a conflict of interest, as she has a history of trying to mislead consumers on Yelp. There is no merit to the claims they appear to highlight, which have been repeatedly dismissed by courts of law, investigated by government regulators, including the FTC, and disproven by academic study.
Soon after, Shannon Eis, Yelp VP of Corporate Communication, and the documentary's director/producer, Kaylie Milliken, appeared on CNBC to field questions.
After only 5 days, the project has reached $40,000 of it's $60,000 goal.
TalkToTheManager has assisted with a contribution in funding the project. There are just too many stories we've heard from business owners over the last 3 years. We can't dismiss the film's claims.
